It is a publication of an official character which contain government notifications, lists of public appointments and honours, legal notices, etc., which are presumed to be genuine.

Gazette generally means the official gazette, published under the authority of the Government. [R. vs. Hold, 5 T.R. 439]

The Official Gazette is Government book, publication or newspaper, which appears on a fixed day or days in every week and is the official organ for the publication of Government orders and regulations, Government circulars, Rules and Bye-laws, and other public notices.

“Official Gazette” or “Gazette” shall mean the Bangladesh Gazette. [S. 3(37a) of the General Clauses Act, 1897]
