When any information, either verbally made before the police, or in writing, regarding a cognizable offence is brought to the notice of the Officer-in-charge of a Police Station then the officer is duty bound to record the information on the specific form in other words to record the FIR and set the information in motion forthwith and to initiate investigation and any officer failing to do so must be taken to task by his superior authority, should such matter be brought to their notice. Equally, there is no justification for the OC of a Police Station to delay in reducing the information into writing in the form of FIR when the matter is referred to him by a competent Court or Tribunal…………………………………………(11 & 13)
