In Bangladesh there has been no amendment of the Limitation Act extending the scope of section 5 of the Limitation Act to special or local law which prescribes a different period of limitation as provided under Schedule 1 of the Limitation Act. Whether section 5 of the Limitation Act will apply in the case of special or local law is a matter for the legislature to decide. As law of limitation stands today, it is undisputed that a plain reading of sub‑section (2) of section 29 clearly shows that section 5 has no application in the present cases.
