Title | Sodomy |
Details |
Sodomy means any of various forms of sexual intercourse held to be unnatural or abnormal, especially anal intercourse or bestiality. Sodomy is a crime in some jurisdictions. Some sodomy laws, particularly in Middle Eastern countries and those jurisdictions observing Shari'ah law, provide penalties as severe as life imprisonment for homosexual intercourse, even if the relations are between legally consenting adults. Other sodomy laws proscribe a variety of other forms of sexual contact and apply even to married couples. No such regulations are found in the law codes of Denmark, France, Italy, Sweden, The Netherlands, or Switzerland, among other countries. A sexual offence against the order of nature; a carnal copulation with a member of the same sex. Sodomy appears originally as part of Hebraic Law, taking its name from the practices reputedly indulged in by the inhabitants of the cities of Sodom and Gomorroh, but unfortunately, the Biblical text is not explicit about the various types of conduct for which these cities were visited by fire and brimstone. The cities of Sodom and Gomorroh referred to in the Old Treatment were situated South West of Dead Sea. [Saha on Marriage and Divorce, 4th Ed. P. 218] |
