Details

"Government" or "the Government" shall mean—

(a) in relation to anything done before the 26th day of March,
1971, any Government which functioned within the territories now comprised in Bangladesh; and

(b) in relation to anything done or to be done after the 25th day
of March, 1971, the Government of the People's Republic of
Bangladesh.

The word "Government" denotes the person or persons authorised by law to administer Executive Government in Bangladesh or in any part thereof.

[See, section 17, the Penal Code, 1860 (Act No. XLV of 1860)].

The word "Government" when used in connection with, or in reference to, any stamp issued for the purpose of denoting a rate of postage, shall, notwithstanding anything in section 17, be deemed to include the person or persons authorised by law to administer executive government in any part of Bangladesh, and also in any part of Her Majesty's dominions or in any foreign country.
